Arlington Heights Fire Station 2 at 1150 North Arlington Heights Road [MAP] is the location of the Arlington Heights Fire Department administrative offices, the fire department’s Battalion Chief, and the fire suppression, rescue and EMS companies of District 2.
Fire Station 2 is usually equipped and ready to respond for assignments with one ambulance (Ambulance 2), one rescue squad (Squad 2), one fire engine (Engine 2) and the battalion chief (Battalion 1). Firefighter/paramedics from Station 2 are first due in District 2 in Arlington Heights, and are part of MABAS Division 1 mutual aid response system. District 2 includes the area north of Northwest Highway and south of Rand Road and south of Palatine Road, but also includes the Arlington International Racecourse property, south of Northwest Highway. Rolling Meadows Fire Department is often first on the scene at the race track — assigned to automatically respond to incidents at the race track because of the proximity of a Rolling Meadows fire station.
Arlington Heights Fire Station 2 also houses utility vehicles and reserve vehicles. The fire station also sometimes houses a hazmat vehicle (H-2), which is also sometimes located at Station 4.
At Fire Station 2, administrative offices and a large training classroom are located on the second floor, which is also used for community training, such as CPR/AED training.
