Police, firefighters and paramedics from Chicago and Metra police responded about 6:46 p.m. Thursday, October 19, 2023 to a report that a Metra train on the Union Pacific Northwest Line hit a pedestrian at Gladstone Park, 5500 North Austin Avenue in Chicago.
Metra train #665 hit a pedestrian. Chicago Fire Engine 108 and Chicago police were on the scene with a confirmed fatality. Apparently there is something about this specific scene that has halted train traffic longer than usual. One person on the train commented that they should let the passengers off the train, but apparently they are not letting people off the train.
Metra confirmed that train #665 struck a pedestrian with Union Pacific Northwest (UP-NW) inbound and outbound train movement halted near Gladstone Park. Extensive delays were anticipated.
