Arlington Heights officials have promoted Andrew Larson to deputy fire chief following the retirement of Deputy Chief Bernie Lyons. Deputy Chief Larson was sworn in at the village board meeting Monday, December 4, 2017 by Mayor Tom Hayes. The Village of Arlington Heights benefits from Larson’s education and career experience. Larson earned his Bachelor of Science in Fire Service Management at Southern Illinois University, and his Masters of Public Administration at Northern Illinois University.
Deputy Chief Larson, a 20-year veteran of the fire department, joined the fire department on January 6, 1997, and has held a number of leadership roles, including battalion chief for the past year, public education officer the previous five years, and lieutenant for four years prior to serving as public education officer. Larson also served as an engineer and paramedic earlier in his career.
