A man pulls over and saves a wild rabbit from the flames on Highway 1 in La Conchita as the Thomas fire heads towards Santa Barbara County.
A Good Samaritan stopped his car along Highway 1 near La Conchita, California after spotting the rabbit alongside the roadway. He tried to grab it, but the rabbit hopped away toward the fire. Apparently, the rabbit decided the human was the lesser of two evils, and the rabbit returned toward the human, but still trying to evade captured.
The man was able to capture the rabbit and bring the rabbit to safety.
Social media commenters reacted to the video. Some called the man a hero, and some called him an idiot for risking his life for a rabbit.
A video camera reporter from RMG News, based in Los Angeles, was covering the raging wildfires in California, and happened to capture the unusually selfless act.
