Elburn police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 2:09 AM Friday October 20, 2017 to a report of a barn house fire at St Charles Farm, 42W 690 Route 64 Elburn, Il. Engine 305’s crew reported a large header and flames showing during response to the scene by 2:11 a.m.
Engine 305’s crew requested a Box Alarm by 2:14 a.m. Battalion Chief 305 also requested a first box alarm for tenders by 2:14 a.m. then immediately changed to a second level for tenders. (MABAS Division 13 Box Alarm on Box #4302 for a barnhouse fire)
Large power lines became involved with fire about 2:40 a.m.
Command reported two structures involved, and reported firefighters were trying to protect two other exposures with a defensive operation by 2:52 AM.

Power outages in the area as ComEd has shut down power near the fire scene.
Command reported the fire was contained to the original fire building and one exposure by 3:48 a.m.
The Box Alarms were struck out at 3:50 a.m.
The property at St. Charles Farm offered horse riding lessons and full-service boarding for horses. Initially, there was no report on the safety of the horses on site, and Yelp reviews and the official Facebook page reports the facility was closed.
Kane County Chronicle reported Friday morning that the property was recently purchased and no animals were currently boarded on the property.
