Hugh Hefner Dies at Age 91 at Home in Playboy Mansion

Playboy magazine founder Hugh Hefner has died at age 91. The Chicago-born Hefner was credited — or blamed — with initially pushing the boundaries of adult entertainment with the magazine’s launch in 1953. CBS 2’s Mike Puccinelli reports.

Hugh Hefner, creator of Playboy magazine, died at his home in the Playboy Mansion of natural causes, surrounded by his family. Hefner was 91. The first issue of Playboy was published in December 1953, and featured Marilyn Monroe.

Hefner worked as a copywriter for Esquire magazine. He mortgaged his furniture and raising money from investors (including his own mother) to create Playboy.

Hefner married 3 times — first to high school sweetheart Mildred Williams in 1949. His second marriage was with former Playmate of the Year Kimberly Conrad in 1989. … His third message was with Crystal Hefner in 2012.
His third marriage came 4 years after breaking up with longtime girlfriend Holly Madison. He’s survived by 4 children — Christie and David from his first marriage and Marston and Cooper from his second marriage.
