Arlington Heights police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 3:41 PM Sunday, April 23, 2017 to a report of a crash with injuries at 2610 North Drury Lane Arlington Heights, Il. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that a man was down on the ground after being hit while exiting a parked car.
The driver of a Jeep SUV was parked in the street next to the driver’s side of the passenger’s car — a black Honda Accord, which was parked northbound at the curb. The passenger was getting out of the parked Jeep SUV — also headed northbound — when the Jeep SUV was struck head-on by a red Nissan Rogue. The driver of the red Nissan Rogue was apparently distracted while multi-tasking and driving.
The driver of the was Nissan Rogue southbound on Dury Lane when he hit a Jeep SUV head-on while the passenger was getting out on the passenger side of the Jeep SUV. The passenger — using a cane — was injured when he was knocked to the ground by the open door on the Jeep SUV and as he was pushed into his own car. The passenger’s Honda Accord — the third vehicle — was not struck by the Jeep or the Rogue.
The passenger was transported to Northwest Community Hospital. On initial assessment by paramedics, the injuries were not believed to be immediately life-threatening.
