Excitement is building for the Cubs’ home opener at Wrigley Field on Monday. Fans will see changes galore at the Friendly Confines this season. CBS 2’s Sandra Torres reports.
The Cubs home opener against the LA Dodgers is Monday, April 10, 2017 at 7:05 p.m.
There will be increased traffic restrictions with security at Wrigley Field starting with Monday’s opening day at the home field.
The Cubs management wanted all traffic at Clark and Addison completely shut down on game days, but instead only trucks will be restricted near the ballpark. Car traffic will be managed at slow speeds. The traffic restrictions will start two hours before the game and end one hour after the game.
The Office of Emergency Management and Communications says all trucks and vans bigger than a cargo van will be banned from the area surrounded by Irving Park Road, Belmont Avenue, Halsted Street and Southport Avenue.
The new security restrictions will be reviewed after three games, but it likely will remain in place all season.
