Libertyville police received a report about 11:30 p.m. Sunday February 19, 2017 that five cars were stolen from Gregory Infiniti, 1121 South Milwaukee Ave, Libertyville. One of the stolen autos was involved in a crash in Racine County, Wisconsin following a police chase northbound on I-94 Sunday night.
All of the cars stolen were Infinitis with temporary license plates from the dealership.
Kenosha County Deputies reported seeing all five of the stolen cars in Kenosha County speeding without their lights on and swerving and using the shoulder.
At about 11:36 p.m., the Racine County Sheriff’s Office was alerted about the five stolen vehicles heading north on I-94. A Racine County deputy then spotted one of those cars as they headed north and that’s when a police pursuit began began.
Police were chasing a suspect in one of the stolen cars for about four miles at speeds of up to 115 miles-per-hour northbound on I-94 before they crashed into another car.
Police deployed spike strips and the stolen car hit those strips and crashed into another vehicle before going into a ditch. Two suspects fled on foot and were still at large overnight.
The innocent people in the other crashed vehicle received minor injuries.
Wisconsin law enforcement said the suspects may be in the Milwaukee area with the other four stolen cars. k-9 units were used to search for the two suspects who fled on foot after crashing.
