Crystal Lake police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 8:46 a.m. Friday January 13, 2017 to a report of a public works employee hit by a vehicle and pinned between the vehicle and a trailer.
The crash occurred on Miller Road just east of Golf Course Road.
A public works employee, while working on the roadway, suffered “severe” injuries when he was struck by the SUV, and pinned between the SUV and a construction trailer Friday morning.
The injured patient was extricated and transported to Centegra Hospital Huntley. A Flight for Life helicopter met the ambulance at Centegra Hospital Huntley. Initially, there was a landing zone planned at Woodscreek Park near Golf Course Road between Willow Tree Drive and and Ackman Road. There was no confirmation available Friday afternoon regarding a transfer to a Level I Trauma Center from Centegra Hospital Huntley.
The female driver of the Mitsubishi SUV, whose age was not known, was transported by a second ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries to Centegra Hospital Huntley.
The Mitsubishi SUV was eastbound on Miller Road, just east of Golf Course Road, when it struck a City of Crystal Lake Public Works employee, who was working on a roadway repair project. McHenry County sheriff’s deputies are investigating the crash.
There were no road closures.
