Over the weekend, one UHP trooper was hit and critically injured. Two more troopers were were nearly killed trying to protect us from drunk drivers. KSL News Specialist Jed Boal reports.
The weekend before Thanksgiving, one Utah Highway Patrol (UHP) trooper was hit and critically injured. Another trooper sideswiped an impaired wrong way driver’s vehicle to stop the vehicle. Another trooper was almost hit by a drunk driver that crashed into his cruiser.
Neither of the impaired drivers seemed to have any idea they were driving on the interstate.
In the wrong way case, the UHP trooper aborted a traffic stop and pulled back into traffic to intercept the wrong way driver on Interstate 15. The trooper had about 7 seconds to react to the oncoming vehicle after seeing it come around a curve.
