Schaumburg police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 9:22 PM Thursday to a report of a building fire and a 1404 Tonset Lane Schaumburg, Il. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report of a “big boom” at commercial strip mall building at 7-ELEVEN (1411 West Schaumburg Road Schaumburg, IL) with smoke coming from the parking lot.
A minute later firefighters received a report of a vehicle fire at 1404 Tonset Lane — Engine 54’s crew was assigned to Tonset Lane. Battalion Chief 5 assigned E51 to Tonset Lane, diverted from the 7-ELEVEN response..
Engine 51’s crew on arrival reported they see no fire on Tonset Lane.
Crews reported some type of explosion involving a vehicle.
Witnesses reported multiple police vehicles on scene.
The explosion possibly involved a white Jeep Wrangler — not confirmed.
Police taped off an area with yellow tape enclosing a driveway with at least two vehicles inside the tape perimeter.
Some fire companies were immediately available by 9:34 p.m. Engine 53 returned at 9:34 p.m., but Engine 52 was dispatched to the scene at 9:35 p.m.
