Twitter Set to Kick Off NFL Live Streaming with New York Jets vs. Buffalo Bills Thursday Night Football

Twitter will live stream the New York Jets vs. Buffalo Bills game Thursday, as part of an agreement with the National Football League that it hopes will help boost shrinking revenue. WSJ’s Lee Hawkins explains.

Thursday Night Football September 15, 2016 marks the first time Twitter has sold ads for live sports video.

Twitter has sold ad packages for all ten games in the $1 million to $8 million range.

For $5 million, the same price as a 30-second ad on the Super Bowl an advertiser gets two commercials per game as well as sponsorship coverage with dozens of video clips during the week.

Advertising agreements have also been arranged with the MLB, NBA and the NHL.

Videos are becoming central to Twitters turn around effort, and Twitter is in talks with Apple to bring its app to AppleTV.
