Alex Figueroa said he was taking a walk at the Circle B Bar Reserve in Lakeland Wednesday morning, when he spotted a group of people watching something along the trail.
Circle B Bar Reserve is like a Cook County Forest Preserve, except when you look off the walking path in the marshland area you’re very likely to see alligators — sometimes 10 or more.
The preserve is home to birds such as white ibis, roseate spoonbills, sandhill cranes and bald eagles. In addition to alligators, animal neighbors include armadillos, bobcats, snakes, gray squirrels, river otters and wild hogs.
Poisonous snakes found in Florida include Eastern Coral Snake, Cottonmouth Water Moccasin, Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnake, and Dusky Pygmy Rattlesnake
