UPDATE: The incident involving the death of a female pedestrian in traffic was ruled an accident.
The Cook County sheriff’s office and Morton Grove Fire Department responded about 6:25 a.m. Tuesday to a fatal hit-and-run pedestrian incident. Cook County Sheriff’s police reported late Tuesday afternoon that they are talking with a driver who may have been involved in an apparent hit-and-run vehicle vs pedestrian incident that resulted in the death of a Niles woman on Golf Road in the Village of Golf. The victim has been identified as 26-year-old Izah Malik.
Witnesses say the victim was in the street, wearing dark clothing, acting erratically, dancing and talking on her cell phone.

Her body was found as officers responded to a 6:25 a.m. call that the body had been found at Golf Road and Overlook Drive. The body showed signs of having been struck by a vehicle, according to the sheriff’s office. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police did not immediately release the description of an offending vehicle.
The fire department and precise time of the incident on this report were not confirmed.
