CBS2Chicago CBS CHICAGO CARES page supports the American Red Cross. The biggest threat to families isn’t severe weather – it’s fire. The American Red Cross responds to 3 to 4 home fires every day in the Greater Chicago Region, providing food, shelter and comfort to more than 1,400 families affected each year in our community. You can help by making a donation to the Red Cross. Your gift enables the Red Cross to prepare for, respond to, and help people recover from disasters.
Fire hazards in your home might be hidden, and unless you’re doing renovation work, those dangers might not be exposed until it’s too late. As CBS 2’s Mike Parker reports, contractors are often the ones to point out risks to their clients.
No matter what time of day or night, the American Red Cross goes where needed anytime a disaster happens, especially a fire. Recently, an early morning blaze sent volunteers to a public housing complex in Waukegan. CBS 2’s Lionel Moise reports.
