Prospect Heights police and firefighter paramedics responded about 12:39 AM Saturday to a report of crash with injuries at Willow Road and Manor Avenue Prospect Heights, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that two people were trapped and injured in a vehicle.
Firefighter/paramedics also learned that a third person may have been ejected from the crash, but no third victim was found. Arlington Heights Police Department dispatched a K-9 unit to assist with search of the area for an ejected victim or a vehicle occupant that may have wandered away from the scene.
The first patient in the vehicle was extricated by about 1:00 a.m. and was transported to Level I Trauma Center Advocate Lutheran General Hospital by a Wheeling Fire Department rescue ambulance.
The second patient was transferred from the wrecked vehicle to an Arlington Heights Fire Department rescue ambulance, and was also transported to Level I Trauma Center Advocate Lutheran General Hospital.
Both patients were seriously injured.
Mount Prospect firefighter/paramedics were also dispatched to the scene with a rescue ambulance, but did not transport a patient.
Prospect Heights police would not comment on the approximate age of the victims, or confirm the number of vehicles that were involved in the crash — saying the crash was under investigation.
Willow Road was closed for an extended period for a police accident investigation.
