Purple ribbons with big bows were part of a domestic violence vigil last Sunday evening, October 4, 2015 at North School Park. Red silhouette cutouts representing those who have died from domestic abuse were placed along the entrance to the park’s plaza, but purple ribbons with large bows are also visible along Northwest Highway and along Arlington Heights Road.
The domestic violence awareness vigil was hosted by members of domestic abuse ministries at three Arlington Heights Catholic churches — Saint James, Our Lady of Wayside, and St Edna Catholic Church. The event was held for the first time Sunday in accordance with the national Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
