Mac OS X free upgrade is more consistent with iOS.

There are several improvements to the built in search function “Spotlight” which now delivers results for weather, sports, stocks, web video, and transit information.

And now you can ask Spotlight to find a file using natural language — so when you’re looking for the presentation you created last Friday, just type “presentation I made on Friday.” Spotlight is also more flexible: You can resize its window to see more results and move it anywhere on your desktop.

The Notes app probably has the most significant improvements. Notes now includes checklists, and can add documents, photos, map locations, PDFs, and videos to the note with a drag and drop gesture. Users can also share content from another app to Notes by using a Share button in the other app.

The Notes app also includes an attachment browser that displays attachments in one simple view. The types of attachment are organized in category tabs, which include … photos and videos, sketches, maps, websites, audio, and documents. Users can sketch in Notes using a finger or mouse or other input. Sketches can also be drawn more precisely with a highly detailed ruler.

Safari also includes the ability to Mute specific tabs, which is very useful when some website in an unknown background tab starts playing some annoying commercial. Users can also mute the entire browser, but still hear audio from other apps, such as Mail or Messages.
