The funeral for Illinois police Lt. Joe Gliniewicz, who was fatally shot last week, drew thousands of mourners, including hundreds of police officers. CNN’s Ryan Young reports.

Last week, Lt. Joe Gliniewicz, a 30-year veteran as GI Joe was shot and killed after he radioed that he was in foot pursuit of three suspicious men. On Labor Day, September 7, 2015 a memorial service was held at Antioch Community High School — his alma mater.

His eulogy included reflections on Gliniewicz’s devotion to family, friends and the police community — and his love for coffee. He was known to say, “Always be vertical and caffeinated.”

An 18-mile procession left the high school at 3:30 p.m. heading toward Hillside East Cemetery, where Gliniewicz will be laid to rest.

The men wanted in his shooting remain at-large. Lake County Sheriff’s Office officials have scheduled a press conference at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday to discuss the ongoing investigation.
