Salesforce.com CEO Marc Benioff discusses the importance of education funding and philanthropy in Silicon Valley with Bloomberg’s Emily Chang.

Starting next school year, Buffalo Grove High School and Elk Grove High School will will have an Apple iPad for every student to use in class and at home. All students in all District 214 schools are expected to have an Apple iPad at the start of the 2016-17 school year. So far, District 214 has about 9,000 of the 12,000 iPads required to fulfill the goal of one Apple iPad for every student.

Apple in February announced a plan to give $100 million dollars to public schools — giving an emphasis on minorities’ access to technology. Apple has chosen to help 114 schools where 96 percent of student will received Apple iPads.

How is District 214 according Apple iPads? … with money from grants, Title I funding and savings from not upgrading the school district’s older technology –desktop computers, servers and associated technology that is becoming obsolete.
