Arlington Heights firefighter/paramedics responded about 2:08 PM Monday to a report of a tree down that took down power lines at 345 South Bristol Lane Arlington Heights, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that a tree took down power lines in the backyard and caused an odor of smoke in the area.
Residents reported no arcing or fire was visible.
Tower 1’s crew reported a power line was downed by a tree, and ComEd should be informed that they will have to remove the tree. Firefighters also reported power was out in the neighborhood.
ComEd reported about 78 customers in the neighborhood were without power with estimated restore time of 5:23 p.m.

Power line problems with a backyard tree also may have caused a small fire in the basement of a home on Williams Avenue near Olive Street in Palatine. Residents extinguished the fire before firefighters arrived with a fire extinguisher. Firefighters checked the home and the backyard for additional risks and called ComEd to the scene.
ComEd reported less than five customers were without power at the Williams Avenue neighborhood.
