Chicagoland weather radar shows severe thunderstorms in northern Illinois with the heaviest storms between Quad Cities and Rockford at 10:46 a.m.
Satellite images show a large area of convective clouds in northern Illinois, central Illinois, northern Missouri, most of Iowa, eastern Minnesota, and all of Wisconsin at 9:37 a.m. CDT.
The most intense thunderstorm activity is expected in the northwest suburbs and O’Hare International Airport area at about 1:00 p.m. CDT. The National Weather Service expects “explosive severe thunderstorm development” across northern Illinois along and north of I-88, but is not certain if the intense complex of severe thunderstorms will maintain strength into the Chicago area.

Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before 2pm. Some storms could be severe, with damaging winds. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 89. Heat index values as high as 96. Breezy, with a south southwest wind 15 to 25 mph, with gusts as high as 35 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before 10pm. Some of the storms could be severe. Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly clear, with a low around 65. Breezy, with a southwest wind 15 to 20 mph becoming northwest 10 to 15 mph after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Sunny, with a high near 81. North northwest wind around 10 mph becoming northeast in the afternoon.
