The Arlington Heights Fire Department will be conducting their annual AHFD MDA Fill the Boot Drive on Friday, May 29 at the major intersections of Arlington Heights Rd from 6:30am to 10:30am and from 2pm-6pm, where the firefighters will be out collecting and filling their boots to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, who provides local children and their families with medical services at no cost to them!

At their downtown location in the Vail St Jewel Parking Lot, near the downtown Metra Station, the AHFD will have their Tower Ladder on display along with the WGN Morning News Around Town with Ana segment being filmed live from 745am till 10am. Ana will be doing a story on the Arlington Heights Fire Department and their work with the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Ana is also coming out to meet the AHFD’s 4-year-old MDA Ambassador and Arlington Heights resident Ben Noble, who is diagnosed with Duchennes Muscular Dystrophy and making his third AHFD MDA Fill the Boot Drive with the firefighters this year! At that same location 97.1 the Drive will be there from 4-6pm with station giveaways.
The other major intersection of Palatine/Arlington Heights Rd, the AHFD will have a Fire Engine on display, along with the radio stations 102.3XLC FM from 7-9am and 101.9 the Mix from 3-5pm with station giveaways as well. Long time MDA Ambassador Seth Goldberg, an Arlington Heights area resident, will be on location to answer any questions in regards to MDA and the long standing history of the fire fighters association with this cause.
Later that night, the AHFD will be putting on the AHFD MDA Benefit at the House of Music & Entertainment (HOME Bar) in Arlington Heights from 7-12am with the band 7th Heaven (a Chicago Favorite) performing, the Chicago Police Emerald Society of Pipes & Drums, their sponsors Lagunitas Brewery, Old Style Brewery, EFFEN Vodka, and Jim Beam will be providing the beverages, a silent auction, and several raffles with 100% of all proceeds going to MDA. It is open to the public with a $5 MDA donation cover being collected from 7-9pm and a $10 cover after 9pm collected by the HOME Bar.
Last year the AHFD set a record by raising over $26,000 — that day becoming the third largest fundraising fire department for MDA in the state of Illinois. Arlington Heights firefighters hope to break that again this year!
Please come out and like their slogan, “Make a Muscle and Fill the Boot!”
