Arlington Heights firefighter/paramedics responded about 7:56 AM Monday to a report of a utility pole and transformer on fire in the block of 900 North Hickory Avenue Arlington Heights, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that a transformer was on fire in a backyard.
Firefighters confirmed that the transformer on top of a utility pole was flaming and arcing, but the flaming and arcing had stopped by 8:02 a.m. Engine 2’s crew requested Com Ed to the scene.
Residents at the scene reported to firefighters that the power had been out about 60-90 minutes prior to calling the fire department.
The Com Ed outage map reported 25 customers without power near Hickory Avenue and Frederick Street.
According to ComEd, the estimated restoration time for repair of an equipment problem is 12 noon.
