As more cities in Iraq and Syria fall into the hands of ISIS, the Senate Armed Services Committee meets to discuss strategy. CNN’s Jake Tapper reports.
In Iraq, Fallujah, Mosul and Ramadi have been taken by ISIS with Baghdad threatened 70 miles east. In Syria, Raqqa, Al Bab and Palmyra have fallen to ISIS.
On the day that news of the loss of Ramadi was confirmed, and Palmyra was being overtaken by ISIS, the president said, “It’s now believed that drought and crop failures and high food prices helped fuel the early unrest in Syria, which descended into civil war in the heart of the Middle East.”
