NOAAS Okeanos Explorer is a converted United States Navy ship (formerly USNS Capable (T-AGOS-16)), that is now an exploratory vessel for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). Okeanos officially launched in 2010, entering into a five-year partnership with the San Francisco Exploratorium.

The mission is to gather scientific information about oceans for the public and scientific use. NOAA officials believe as much as 95% of the ocean remains unexplored.
