Winter Storm Warning upgrades to a Blizzard Warning at 2:00 p.m.

Chicagoland weather radar shows snow over the northern two-thirds of Illinois, all of Iowa, the southern half of Wisconsin and the northern half of Indiana at 5:00 am.

An additional 8 inches of snow is forecast for Arlington Heights from 7:00 a.m. to midnight Sunday/Monday. Another inch is forecast from midnight to 5:00 a.m. Monday.

Satellite images show clouds consistent with a large winter storm and low pressure system currently over eastern Kansas — approaching from the southwest.

Winds are forecast to gust to 37 MPH from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Sunday, and gradually taper to 13 mph at 3:00 p.m. Monday.

WARNING…WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 2 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO MIDNIGHT
CST TONIGHT. A WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 2 PM
CST.

* TIMING…SNOW…HEAVY AT TIMES…WILL CONTINUE UNTIL EARLY
EVENING. BLIZZARD CONDITIONS WILL DEVELOP LATE THIS AFTERNOON
AND CONTINUE THIS EVENING…ESPECIALLY NEAR THE LAKE AND IN
MORE OPEN AREAS.

* WINDS/VISIBILITY…NORTHEAST WINDS WILL INCREASE TO 20 TO 30 MPH
WITH GUSTS TO 40 MPH THIS AFTERNOON…WITH EVEN STRONGER WINDS
NEAR THE LAKE. THE COMBINATION OF FALLING AND BLOWING SNOW WILL
FREQUENTLY REDUCE VISIBILITIES TO NEAR ZERO IN WHITE OUT
CONDITIONS LATE THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS…10 TO 15 INCHES…WITH ISOLATED TOTALS UP
TO 18 INCHES POSSIBLE.

* MAIN IMPACT…SNOW COVERED ROADS WILL MAKE TRAVEL DIFFICULT. BY
AFTERNOON…THE COMBINATION OF THE SNOW AND VERY STRONG WINDS
WILL MAKE TRAVEL EXTRAORDINARILY DANGEROUS.
