High Winds Causing Power Line Problems in Chicagoland — Power Outages Arlington Heights, Mount Prospect, Des Plaines, Elk Grove, Wheeling, More …

Police and firefighter/paramedics are responding to several power line-related problems, transformer fires and activated fire alarms related to power failures. Also high waves from Lake Michigan are crashing over northbound Lake Shore Drive at the 1200 block. Northbound Lake Shore Drive was closed about 125 p.m. from Michican Avenue to North Avenue. The Michigan Avenue ramp was also closed.

High winds are starting to take a toll on power lines.

As of 12:30 p.m. most power outages are impacting ComEd customers in multiple groups of 50 or less each.

Power was reported out at the following locations at 12:30 pm.
