Naperville Fire Department will be conducting a regional live fire training exercise near Quincy Avenue northeast of the City’s Public Works Service Center. There is no emergency at the scene and there is no cause for alarm. The training exercise is being held in cooperation with the Canadian National Railroad and is allowing our fire and police departments, along with several area department and emergency management agencies, to practice, train and prepare for a possible hazardous materials transportation incident.
The training will begin at 12:30 p.m. and is anticipated to last until about 3:30 p.m. People near Quincy Avenue may see rail cars and several individuals in protective gear. They may also see a visible haze or smoke cloud for a short time. No actual hazardous materials will be on site during the training.
