US official Jen Psaki says the intelligence community is working “as quickly as possible” to determine the authenticity of an Internet video purporting to show the beheading by the Islamic State group of US journalist Steven Sotloff.
ISIS released a video Tuesday purported to be the beheading of U.S. journalist and former Time Magazine reporter Steven Sotloff. The authenticity of the video has not been confirmed. The video was titled “A second message to America,” and again started with footage of oratory from U.S. President Barack Obama, before switching to a scripted anti-US monologue spoken by Sotloff immediately before his execution.
“You, Obama, have but to gain from your actions but another American citizen. So just as your missiles continue to strike our people, our knife will continue to strike the necks of your people.”

The video is similar to the video released last month that showed an ISIS militant killing American journalist James Foley.
