Schaumburg police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 6:52 AM Tuesday toa commercial building fire at Taurus Tool & Engineering, 525 Estes Avenue Schaumburg, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that a machine was on fire inside a building. Schaumburg firefighter/paramedics in Ambulance 53 reported smoke showing immediately as they were responding to the scene.

The fire response was upgraded to a working fire response (Code 4) and all Schaumburg fire crews responded to the fire, while firefighters from neighboring communities — Arlington Heights, Elk Grove, Hanover Park and Rolling Meadows provide fire station coverage for the rest of Schaumburg.
The fire broke through the roof by about 7:00 a.m. with heavy smoke blowing out the front of the building and the rear of the building.
A box alarm was called by about 7:10 a.m. bringing additional fire crews from neighboring communities to the scene.
Heavy smoke was also reported visible from O’Hare International Airport’s control tower.
The firefighters were making good progress on the fire by about 7:20 a.m.
At about 7:30 a.m. firefighters were still working to prevent spread of the fire to neighboring buildings. Parts of the main building were also at risk of collapse by about 7:25 a.m.
