A boy, age 14, in Syracuse, Utah, was involved in a high-speed chase after he took the keys to his grandfather’s Hyundai Veloster on Saturday, May 31, 2014 and went for a joyride. Police responded to his grandfather’s report of the stolen vehicle and a police pursuit began a dangerous route — including across a grass park near a skate park. When the boy attempted to elude police by cutting through a crowded park, children and parents scattered to avoid being hit by the vehicle.
A pickup truck driver, Bryson Rowsley, witnessed the chase, and then waited poised around a corner to stop the chase. As the offending teen driver headed the Veloster back toward the park, Rowsley drove his Ram 2500 head-on into the Hyundai and prevented the risk of any pedestrian being hit by the Hyundai.
