CNN Senior Medical Correspondent Elizabeth Cohen explains that the Food and Drug Administration has approved Cefaly, the first medical device for preventing migraines.
Cefaly is an external cranial neurostimulator indicated for the treatment and prevention of migraine and tension headaches by reducing the frequency of migraines. Cefaly is intended for patients who suffer from frequent severe migraines or headaches, especially when drugs consumption needs to be reduced — especially because of the side effects of drugs. The Cefaly technology can also be used in order to produce a sedative effect.
