Extreme Road Rage: SUV Drivers Ram Each Other on I-90 Near Bellevue and Sammamish, Washington

VIDEO: Wrecked domestic road-rage SUVs. AUDIO: 9-1-1 callers.

Motorists started giving police reports via 9-1-1 for an extreme case of road rage at 6:37 p.m. Wednesday on Interstate 90 near Bellevue and Sammamish, Washington (milepost 13/Lake Sammamish exit). Police received updated reports that cars were driving dangerously — weaving and reaching speeds up to 100 mph. Two speeding SUVs began slamming into each other.

The drivers, Desi C. Beltran, 29, and Hugo Yanez, 32, eventually crashed hard after ramming each other several times. The final crash caused both SUVs to roll over and rest near the median. Both a 1995 Ford Explorer driven by Beltran, of North Bend, Washington; and a 2007 Ford Freestyle, driven by Yanez, of Bellevue, were totaled.

Karen M. Hardtke, 27, of Cle Elum, Washington was a passenger in Yanez’s car, was not injured. A two-year-old male, also of Cle Elum, was not injured. One police officer attributed the safety features of modern vehicle in the results of people not being killed in this type of crash.
