UPDATE 3/7/2014: Initially witnesses that called 911 reported they thought the person hit by the train was in her 20s. The female was discovered to be a teen, age 17.
Buffalo Grove police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 3:43 PM Friday to Half Day Road and the Metra North Central Line in Buffalo Grove, just south of the Prairie View Metra station. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that a female in her 20s intentionally walked into a train near the railroad grade at Half Day Road.
Early reports indicate that the victim was moving after she was hit by the slow-moving train. All Buffalo Grove firefighter/paramedics are working on medical treatment of the victim.
There is no confirmation that the victim intentionally walked into the train at this time.
A train is stopped at the scene, and all other trains in the area have been stopped from approaching the scene.

Train #116, scheduled to arrive Chicago at 4:35 p.m., is stopped in the vicinity of Prairie View due to a pedestrian incident. Estimated time of delay will be approximately 60-120 minutes. Metra will provide updated information as it becomes available.

I know the girl. She was 17. Not in her twenties. And yes, she intentionally did it as a suicide attempt.
