Dear Paul B,
I am now 40, single (for the first time EVER,) and feel lost, (for the first time EVER.) I used to be confident, clever, carefree…and complete. Now that I am a single woman, I feel as though I have no value, no self-worth and invisible. When I walk down the street, I am viewed as too short, too heavy and worthless. I know that you seem to pull from the young, the old, and those with very special issues, but what about us–The Sandwich Generation? We need some attention, and have issues as well. So, don’t forget us..we’re peeps too.
Lisa
Dear Lisa,
You are obviously a fresh member of the “singles crowd.” You have been married for a long time (I assume…) and have not made decisions without a mate for a very long time. Cut yourself a little slack…this is a new life…new challenges, and it will be fun and interesting when you realize that you have your whole life ahead of you. Looking back is for losers…When you run your race, you keep your eyes on the prize. What happened yesterday is gone, today and tomorrow are your focus now. Let your co-workers, and others know that you are “out there” now, and ready to meet new peeps. Leave your past in the past. I am a “free man” as well, and after the first few months, I saw a bright, no holds barred future, and it’s happening as I imagined it would. It’s all about YOUR ATTITUDE, Lisa. There are millions of single peeps to befriend…Get out there and meet them. Make yourself approachable, and do NOT see yourself the victim..Don’t be impatient, and see this new life as a challenge and opportunity to live life to the fullest.
BTW, thanks for the heads-up…as I had unintentionally neglected you Sandwich Peeps in my column. I know..you’re peeps too, and I love you all. Smile, and Be Yourself (everyone else is taken anyway….)
