On August 28, 2013, shooter Nidal Hasan has been sentenced to death. The convicted United States Army Medical Corps officer who fatally shot 13 and injured more than 30 others in the November 5, 2009, Fort Hood mass shooting had represented himself and was convicted on August 23, 2013. At his court-martial on August 6, 2013, Hasan admitted to the fatal shootings. On August 23, 2013, a panel of thirteen officers convicted him of 13 counts of premeditated murder and 32 counts of attempted murder. Judge Colonel Tara Osborn presided over the case.
