Com Ed checks some primary power lines down along the north side Oakton Street at Douglas Avenue in Arlington Heights (more photos).
Several areas in Arlington Heights were without power overnight. Especially hard hit with large tree branches down, was the south side of town between Northwest Highway and Central Road.
Much of downtown Arlington Heights was without power with many restaurants closing early because the power outage. Power was also out between Northwest Highway and Central Road.
Primary power lines are also down along Oakton Street between Douglas Avenue and Dryden. A large area of homes are without power between Hawthorne Street and Thomas Street on the east side of Arlington Heights Road. Saturday morning the lines are still down, and no Com Ed crews were working in the immediate area at 6:00 a.m., but crews were working at Arlington Heights Road and Palatine Road at about 6:00 a.m.
Several reports of power lines down were received from addresses in the 700 block of North Douglas Avenue, the 700 block of North Hickory Avenue, the 700 block of North Beverly Avenue, the 1300 block of North Belmont Avenue, and the 1300 block of North Douglas Avenue.
Severe thunderstorms with high winds and lightning ripped through the area about 9:15 p.m. To 9:35 p.m. Friday.
Com Ed crews working near Walgreens and Dominick’s at Arlington Heights Road and Palatine Road. Both stores appear to be operating normally (more photos).
