Police, firefighters and paramedics from Chicago responded around 8:15 p.m. Saturday, February 22, 2025 to a report of a shooting at a hotel in the block of 300 Grand Avenue in Chicago.
Police on arrival discovered a 29-year-old woman with a gunshot wound to the neck inside the lobby of the hotel at a corner on Grand Avenue at New Orleans Street.
According to the Chicago Police Department, the victim told police she was shot by an unknown male offender who fled the scene in a tan SUV that was last seen heading eastbound on Grand Avenue. Initially a detailed physical description of the offender was not available.
Paramedics transported the victim to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where she was listed in good condition.
During further on-scene investigation, police found a 32-year-old female/black inside a guest room with a life-threatening gunshot wound to the shoulder. The woman was transported to Level 1 Trauma Center Northwestern Memorial Hospital where she died.
Area Three detectives are investigating the shooting, which occurred in the River North neighborhood of Chicago.
No one in custody connected in the investigation of this shooting.
Initially, no indication or police information release regarding whether the shooting was targeted or random, or whether any of the victims knew each other.
