Rolling Meadows police on Wednesday morning, December 18, 2024 released the identity of a bicyclist who was struck and killed by a car at Rohlwing Road and Campbell Street Tuesday night. The bicyclist was identified as Patrick J Houlihan, age 41 of Rolling Meadows. Initially, the identity of the bicyclist was withheld until family members were notified.

Information provided to police officers arriving on the scene of the crash indicated the driver and vehicle involved may have left the scene of the crash, but that the vehicle was returned to the scene a short time later. The driver of the involved vehicle is cooperating with authorities, according to the Rolling Meadows Police Department.




According to the Rolling Meadows Police Department, when police officers arrived on the scene of the crash, they located the adult male bicyclist, who was down in the roadway, but conscious. The bicyclist was transported to a hospital for treatment, but was later pronounced deceased.

Police, firefighters and paramedics from Rolling Meadows responded about 9:28 p.m. Tuesday, December 17, 2024 to a report of bicycle crash with a car near the intersection of Rohlwing Road and Campbell Street in Rolling Meadows.

Police, firefighters, and paramedics upon arrival discovered a bicyclist down in the road bleeding and a bicycle down just north of the crosswalk across Rohlwing Road and just north of Campbell Street. Initial reports indicated a black Ford Fiesta struck the bicyclist.

The patient was initially believed to have been transported by Rolling Meadows Fire Department paramedics to Endeavor Health NCH in Arlington Heights where the victim was pronounced deceased. According to the Cook County Medical Examiners Office, a male age 41 who was a resident of Rolling Meadows, was pronounced deceased at 10:41 p.m.




The Major Case Assistance Team – Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction specialists (MCAT-STAR) were assigned to the scene, and assisted the Rolling Meadows police department with the investigation of the crash.

The Speed Limit in the area is 30 mph along Rohlwing Road. Westbound Campbell Street is controlled by a stop sign. There is no stop sign for Rohlwing Road. The intersection is on left-hand curve for northbound traffic on Rohlwing Road at Campbell Street.
