Lake County Sheriff’s Detectives arrested a Buffalo Grove female adult accused of sending lewd photos of herself to a teen boy after he was released from custody in a juvenile detention facility in Lake County.
Lake County Sheriff’s Detectives became aware Bayleigh Hoyt, 28, of the 100 block of South Buffalo Grove Road, engaged a 17-year-old boy in inappropriate text message conversations and sent the boy lewd photos.
Hoyt met the 17-year-old while he was in custody at the Depke Juvenile Detention Facility in Lake County, and she was employed at the facility as a juvenile counselor from November 2019 to January 2023. After the juvenile was discharged from the facility, the two began communicating with each other. During the communication, Hoyt began having lewd conversations with the boy, and sent the boy nude photos of herself.
Hoyt encouraged the boy to delete messages and photos, as she did not want to get caught before resigning. Shortly after, Hoyt resigned from the juvenile facility, before law-enforcement became aware of the situation.
Sheriff’s detectives conducted an investigation and after reviewing the facts and circumstances of the incident, the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office approved the charges of official misconduct and distributing harmful material. An arrest warrant was drafted on December 10, 2024, and approved by a Lake County Judge.
Sheriff’s detectives arrested Bayleigh Hoyt at her place of employment at District 112 in Highland Park, without incident. District 112 said Hoyt announced Thursday, December 12, 2024 that Balyeigh Hoyt is no longer allowed on school district property and has been placed on leave. She began her job, which she began last week, was contingent on an unrealized formal approval from the Board of Education.
Hoyt was held in the Lake County Jail pending a court appearance Wednesday, December 11, 2024.
All defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.

Lake County prosecutors said the charges against her are non-detainable under the Illinois SAFE-T Act, and a Lake County judge released Hoyt pending trial and placed her on Level 4 pre-trial services monitoring.
Hoyt was given a no contact order that included the 17-year-old boy involved, any minors, and any school, daycare or juvenile centers.
The Lake County judge also granted approval for pre-trial monitoring services access to Hoyt’s computer and electronic devices.
Hoyt, who does not have an attorney, is scheduled for a status of attorney hearing December 18, 2024.
According to Baleigh Hoyt’s Linkedin, she graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree from Lake Forest College in 2019, and a Master of Social Work from Aurora University in 2022. She was an intern at Lake County Juvenile Probation, and then a Juvenile Counselor at 19th Judicial Circuit Courts full-time from
November 2019 – January 2023. Next, she worked full-time as a Program Associate at North Chicago Community Partners (NCCP, an organization that focuses on Student Care, Family Care, and School Care).
