A 42 year-old woman was shot and killed in a possible domestic disturbance at an apartment complex in Barrington Sunday evening, November 17, 2024.

Police, firefighters and paramedics from Barrington responded about 5:35 p.m. Sunday, November 17, 2024 to a report of a shooting that may have been domestic-related in the 400 block of West Russell Street in Barrington, police said.

Upon arrival, police officers discovered a 42-year-old woman who had been shot, police said.

Police determined the scene was secure, and the woman was transported by Barrington Fire Department paramedics to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington, where she was pronounced dead.

The victim’s identity was not initially released. The residence at The Arbors apartment complex had a history of domestic disturbance-related calls.

The circumstances of a domestic disturbance was not initially confirmed officially by police, and initially there was no information released whether a suspect or person of interest was identified or in custody.

The Barrington Police Department and the Major Case Assistance Team are investigating the shooting death. The crime scene is located in Cook County, just south of County Line Road.
