Police from Arlington Heights responded about 12:51 p.m. Saturday, October 19, 2024 to a report of a hit-and-run crash at Northwest Highway (US-14) and Arlington Heights Road in Arlington Heights.
A male motorcyclist was traveling eastbound on Northwest Highway (US-14 EAST) and was hit by a female driver in a vehicle that was westbound on Northwest Highway (US-14 WEST). The witness said the crash happened very fast, but that the female driver was westbound on Northwest Highway, turned left while hitting the motorcycle, and fled southbound on Arlington Heights Road.
The make and model of the vehicle that the female was driving was not disclosed. Initially, there was no description of the female driver either.
At least two witnesses or passers-by helped the motorcyclist, who was lying down in leaking oil from the motorcycle after the crash.
The motorcyclist was treated by Arlington Heights Fire Department paramedics, and was transported to
Endeavor Health Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights.
The hit-and-run crime is reported to have occurred just before 12:51 p.m.
Northwest Highway (US-14 EAST) was closed temporarily east of Arlington Heights Road. The left turn lane to southbound Arlington Heights Road from Northwest Highway (US-14 WEST) was also closed temporarily.
