Palatine Police Detectives on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, arrested and charged 21 year-old Juan Castro-Alvarez, of the 1500 block of Gilpen Avenue in South Elgin, Illinois with one count of Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault (Class X Felony), one count of Grooming (Class 4 Felony), and one count of Traveling to Meet a Minor (Class 3 Felony).
Palatine Police Detectives launched an investigation after a juvenile victim came forward to their mother about the abuse, which occurred early this year in Palatine. Castro-Alvarez was identified as the suspect, and was arrested at his home. The Cook County State’s Attorney’s office reviewed the facts of the case and approved the previously mentioned charges.
Castro-Alvarez was transported to the Cook County 3a District Courthouse in Rolling Meadows for a detention hearing on Thursday September 12, 2024. Castrol-Alvarez was ordered to be detained to the Cook County Department of Corrections. His next court date is scheduled for October 10, 2024 at 9:00 a.m. in Room 108 of the Rolling Meadows Cook County Circuit Courthouse.
