The weekend before Thanksgiving 2023 was no ordinary weekend in Arlington Heights. Was it a breaking point for several individuals? Some motorists in Arlington Heights did not have a stellar weekend on the roads during the weekend of Saturday, November 18th and Sunday, November 19th, 2023.
First, at about 7:06 a.m. Saturday, November 18, 2023, several motorists helped victims of a violent offender, who crashed his car into another vehicle and then began to attack people at the scene of the crash on South Arlington Heights Road near Interstate 90. A few hours later, at about 11:30 a.m. Saturday, November 18, 2023, a motorist involved in a crash was punched by the other involved motorist, who fled the scene. Between the two incidents, four victims and one offender were transported to Northwest Community Hospital Saturday morning.
So far these first two incidents are not known for any connection to any homeless individuals. HOwever, the next two incidents do have a homeless connection. Many motorists are edgy about the possibility of being carjacked or involved as victims of road rage. There is another concern: Accidentally hitting homeless or other individuals who intentionally or accidentally wander into the roadways.
About the time of the road rage incident Saturday morning after the crash at Golf Road and Arlington Heights Road, a man was walking disoriented along Arlington Heights Road near Central Road. He had earlier been reported walking in traffic and interfering with traffic near Golf Road and Arlington Heights. He wandered into traffic several times.
The risk of hitting an individual in this condition is real — especially at night. An incident involving hitting a pedestrian, even if it’s not your fault, could involve serious civil liability — at least time in court. Of course, the thought of seriously injuring someone or killing someone in traffic would also be a serious burden for many people.

The second incident involving a man in the street last pre-Thanksgiving weekend was a man who appeared to be taunting motorists while standing in moving traffic in the westbound lanes of Northwest Highway near Miner Street. The man was yelling in the street into the air and toward motorists that were passing him. He was standing in-between the right lane and the left lane of US-14 WEST (Northwest Highway). His actions continued at least 15 minutes. He called himself Mr. Williams, which can be heard in the video. The man has been involved in several disturbances in the area of Northwest Highway, Miner Street and Vail Avenue in Arlington Heights. According to a tip to CARDINAL NEWS from a witness, “Mr. Williams” was accompanied by a woman named Princess when he was allegedly outspoken, criticizing a man who was trying to make a police report at the front desk at the police station on Sigwalt Street. Williams’ outburst at the police station was possibly the same weekend he was standing in traffic at Northwest Highway near Miner Street.
Citizens are best advised to keep a safe distance from this man, and leave it to trained professionals to manage his outbursts.
