While on patrol in Harvey on Friday evening, Cook County Sheriff’s Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that was observed traveling over 80 MPH while also failing to signal while switching lanes. Cook County Sheriff’s police officers smelled cannabis while talking with the driver, and the driver showed our officers a partially smoked blunt.
After a search of the vehicle, our officers recovered a loaded firearm (Glock 22 .40 cal) that had no serial number (an illegal “ghost” gun which cannot be traced) and more green plant material with a similar odor of cannabis sealed in plastic bags from the driver’s side floorboard. The driver, who also did not have a valid Firearm Owner’s Identification (FOID) card or a Concealed Carry License (CCL), was charged, according to the Cook County Sheriff’s Office.
Initially, Cook County Sheriff’s Office did not provide a list of the charges or the identity of the suspect, or the location in Harvey.
