After Chinese “Spy” Balloon Shot Down, Two “Objects” Shot Down by F-22 Raptor Fighter Jets

... #ad▼

A second high-altitude object was shot down in the Yukon about 3:41 p.m. ET Saturday, February 11, 2023, and a third object was detected on radar over northern Montana on Saturday, February 11, 2023, but the Montana sighting Saturday was possibly a false alarm. Montana Airspace was closed down temporarily today for “Department of Defense activity”, but this NOTAM Alert may have been caused by a radar anomaly that wasn’t matched to any actual visual sighting of an object.

Following the shooting down of a Chinese “spy” balloon, two objects are now confirmed to have been shot down — one off the northern coast of Alaska, and another over the Yukon Territory in Canada. The first object was shot down by an AIM-9X Sidewinder fired from an F-22 Raptor around 10:45 AKST on Friday, February 10, 2023 near the Prudhoe Bay Oil Field, and fell to the frozen sea off Deadhorse, Alaska.

The two unidentified flying objects early February 2023 have been described as cylindrical, silver, and appearing to float, according to U.S. authorities. However, very few details have been released that describe the objects.

FOUR INCIDENTS

Chinese Spy Balloon (60K ft)

Object over Prudhoe Bay (40K ft)

Object over Yukon, Canada (40K ft)

Object North of Havre, Montana (18-35K ft) detected on radar, but no visual sighting by fighter jet pilots (possibly false radar anomaly)

The objects were detected one week after a Chinese “spy” balloon was detected by the U.S. and shot down over the Atlantic near North Carolina and South Carolina. United States National Security Council coordinator John Kirby said regarding the first “object” incident Friday, February 10, 2023, that the “object” was “much, much smaller than the spy balloon that we took down last Saturday.” The spy balloon was the size of three buses, but the “object” was described as about the size of a small car. The “objects” flying at about 40,000 feet were considered a greater threat to commercial aircraft, compared to the spy balloon flying at 60,000 or higher.

According to Pentagon Press Secretary Brig. Gen. Pat Ryder, “Following a call between the Prime Minister of Canada and the President of the United States, President Biden authorized U.S. fighter aircraft assigned to North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) to work with Canada to take down a high-altitude airborne object over northern Canada today. NORAD detected the object over Alaska late Friday evening. Two F-22 aircraft from Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska monitored the object over U.S. airspace with the assistance of Alaska Air National Guard refueling aircraft, tracking it closely and taking time to characterize the nature of the object. Monitoring continued today as the object crossed into Canadian airspace, with Canadian CF-18 and CP-140 aircraft joining the formation to further assess the object.”

Brig. Gen. Pat Ryder added, “A United States F-22 shot down the object in Canadian territory using an AIM 9X missile following close coordination between U.S. and Canadian authorities, to include a call today between Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III and Minister of Defence Anita Anand. As Canadian authorities conduct recovery operations to help our countries learn more about the object, the Federal Bureau of Investigation will be working closely with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.”

The origin of the two objects have not been attributed to China or any other origins, as of Saturday evening, February 11, 2023.
