Police, firefighters and paramedics from Rolling Meadows responded about 9:00 p.m. Thursday, January 19, 2023 to a report of a chimney fire at a house in the block of 5600 Silentbrook Lane in Rolling Meadows. A neighbor nearby reported seeing fire coming from the chimney.
Command on arrival reported a 2-story single-family residence with nothing showing initially. Embers were visible coming from the chimney upon closer investigation, and residents had already evacuated from the house.
Crews extinguished the fire in the chimney, and determined no fire extension into the rest of the house, according to Rolling Meadows Fire Department. The residence was turned over to the homeowner.
We encourage homeowners to have chimneys with wood burning fireplaces regularly inspected and cleaned.

The fire was declared out by 9:11 p.m. but all crews were held on scene for a short time while firefighters checked for extension.
