Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies responded about 7:45 p.m. Friday, December 16, 2022, to a report of shots fired in the block of 39000 Sheridan Road, Beach Park, for a report of shots fired. While responding, sheriff’s telecommunicators obtained a description of a male suspect, who allegedly fired a gun in a parking lot. The responding deputies located a male adult, Jerardo Rios, 41, of the block of 9900 West Oak Forest Drive, Beach Park, who matched the description of the suspect.
Further investigation revealed Rios was in possession of a semi-automatic pistol. Rios indicated he was in an argument with a roommate. He said his roommate left the residence on foot, and he decided to follow him in his vehicle. While following him he fired two rounds, one into the air, and one into the ground. Nobody was struck by the gunfire, according to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
The Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office approved the charge of Reckless Discharge of a Firearm.
Rios remains held in the Lake County Jail on $50,000.00 bail. He is next due in court on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at 9:00 a.m.
All defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
